What is this issue?
Earlier this month, Google released the February security patch to its Pixel phones. However, several users suffered from this weird issue that basically disabled the Wi-Fi on the phone. Whenever a person would turn Wi-Fi on in the quick settings, they would close it and find that it turned itself off. This would happen consistently, no matter how many times they tried. If the user tried to activate it in the actual settings menu, the toggle would turn on, but the Wi-Fi itself wouldn’t turn on. There was some speculation that the random update that Google sent to Pixel 6 a few days ago was a fix. As it turns out, it wasn’t. We still don’t know why the company sent out that update, but it probably wasn’t really anything.
A fix for the Pixel 6’s Wi-Fi issue is coming
As reported by 9To5Google, a fix for the Pixel 6’s Wi-Fi issue is coming very soon. Google responded to a Reddit user’s post with some good news. “After some investigation, we identified the root cause… we realize this is a poor experience and immediately developed a software fix that will be available in the next Google Pixel Update.” The next Pixel update will happen in early March; the first Monday in March to be precise. This will be March 7th, which is 13 days away. There are a lot of people who might not be able to wait that long. For those who can’t really wait that long, they’re recommended to contact the support team if they can. We’re not sure what the support team can do at this point, but, hopefully, they will have some solution. While this issue has affected a fair amount of Pixel 6 users, it doesn’t seem to affect those running the Android 12L beta 3. The folks at 9To5Google (and myself) did not experience this issue at all while using the Pixel 6. We’re pretty sure that Android 12L is what Android 12 needed to be all along.
