From what it appears, the ISOCELL GNV is a modified version of the ISOCELL GN1 camera that Samsung launched in February 2021. It is the Korean firm’s first camera sensor to feature both dual-pixel autofocus and Tetracell (4-in-1) pixel binning. This allows for super-fast autofocus in low-light conditions. Thanks to its algorithms, the ISOCELL GN1 also lets users capture 100-megapixel photos with a 50-megapixel sensor. It can record 8K videos at 30fps (frames per second). Samsung and Vivo may have now modified this high-end smartphone camera to work better with the latter’s hardware and software. The 50-megapixel camera will serve as the primary shooter for one or more Vivo X80 models. The company is expected to launch the Vivo X80, Vivo X80 Pro, and Vivo X80 Pro+ in a few hours from now. It has also reportedly developed a custom ISP (Image Signal Processor) called V1+ in collaboration with MediaTek for the new phones.

The Vivo X80 series may appeal to photography enthusiasts

Vivo is seemingly looking to target photography enthusiasts with its X80-series smartphones, at least the Pro+  model. The new report says the device will feature a gimbal-like OIS (optical image stabilization) system for smooth video footage even when you’re moving. Along with the custom-made ISOCELL GNV primary camera, the new Vivo smartphone will feature three more highly-capable cameras at the back. We are expecting a 48-megapixel ultrawide lens, which is said to be a Sony sensor. There are also a couple of telephoto zoom cameras featuring OIS —  a 12-megapixel sensor with 2x optical zoom and an 8-megapixel sensor with 5x optical zoom. The front-facing camera is a 44-megapixel sensor. The Vivo X80 Pro+ will reportedly sport a 6.78-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It gets the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The device will pack a 4,700mAH battery with 80W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging. Other rumored specs include stereo speakers, an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and Android 12-based software.
