In this article, we’ll show you how to do it, one step at a time. We’ll show you how to change your username both via the desktop client, and via your smartphone app. It’s really easy to do it regardless of where from you change it, and the procedure is quite similar too. We’ll also include some screenshots for you below, so that you can follow what’s going on more easily.
How to change Twitter username on desktop
Let’s kick things off with the desktop client, shall we. First, you’ll need to navigate to Twitter.com, and log into your account, of course. Once you do that, you’ll need to navigate to the ‘More’ option in the left-hand menu.
Once you tap that, a new submenu will appear on the left, containing the ‘Settings and privacy’ option. Click that.
A more detailed settings page will appear, and you will see the ‘Account information’ option on the right, under ‘Your account’ settings.
Twitter will ask you to confirm your password before it allows you to see account info, so do that, and confirm.
Once you’re on your ‘Account information’ page, you’ll see the ‘Username’ option up to, that’s the first option, basically.
The next page will allow you to enter a new username, and then simply tap ‘Save’.
How to change Twitter username on mobile
You can easily change your username from the Android app as well. Once you’re logged into your account, you’ll see your profile image in the top-left corner. Tap it.
A menu will pop up from the left, and from it, you need to choose the ‘Settings and privacy’ option. Depending on the size of your phone’s display, you may need to scroll down to access it.
Once you’re there, navigate to the ‘Your account’ menu.
There you’ll see the ‘Account information’ submenu, open it.
The first option in that submenu will be the ‘Username’ one, tap it.
Now you’ll be able to enter a new username you prefer. Once you decide what it is, and type it in, tap the ‘Done’ option in the bottom-right corner.
